I have been teaching English language learners for over 30 years in a vibrant international school; yet I still feel excited each time I enter the classroom. What a privilege it is to interact with these diverse students. I teach them the language, skills and strategies to help them succeed in their academic studies. In turn they provide me with a continual passion for teaching.
Although retired from the classroom, I have not retired from teaching ELLs. The passion for teaching remains. However, the learning space and student composition have changed. The new classroom is a small room in a local high school, my home, a children’s after-school club, online and social media such as Instagram and Facebook. The ELLs are at risk youth, elementary kids and hopefully kids from around the world.
